Answering questions about lubricating oil knowledge

1、 Is it normal for the oil to turn black during the use of lubricating oil?

Answer: there are three reasons for oil blackening:

（1） The lubricating oil is deteriorated, (II) the parts are worn, (III) impurities enter the oil tank. If there is no impurity entering the oil tank during use, it can be considered that there is a problem with the quality of the lubricating oil itself, and the brand of the oil should be changed. It is normal that the color of the lubricating oil is slightly deepened after use for a period of time, but it does not strain very black (in addition to the engine oil).

2、 Can old equipment use worse oil?

A: generally, the worn parts of the equipment are surface treated, so the surface hardness of the parts is high and not easy to wear, but the interior of the parts is soft, and the surfaces of some parts of the old equipment have been worn, so using poor lubricating oil will accelerate the wear of the parts. We recommend not to use lower grade or poor lubricating oil.

3、 Why can't other oil products replace gear oil?

A: we found that some users use anti-wear hydraulic oil, guide rail oil, turbine oil (turbine oil) or ordinary mechanical oil to replace gear oil. This is not correct, because the power of the whole machine is transmitted through gear speed change, and the meshing line on the gear tooth surface bears a huge load, which requires that the lubricating oil has extreme pressure, while other oil products do not contain extreme pressure additives, which can not protect the tooth surface, so it will lead to pitting corrosion, fracture and other phenomena on the tooth surface.

4、 As long as the viscosity is the same, different types of gear oils can replace each other?

A: no! The grade of gear oil is high or low. Heavy load gear oil can replace light load gear oil, but not on the contrary. At present, domestic ordinary gear oil is mostly medium load or below gear oil, which is not suitable for high-speed and high load equipment.

5、 How is the oil whitening caused?

Answer: generally, the whitening of oil products is caused by water entering the oil tank, which is an emulsification phenomenon. Water should be avoided from entering the lubricating oil tank or rainwater should be avoided from entering the opened oil drum. During specific operation, the equipment shall check whether the oil seal is damaged. During oil change, check whether there is water in the tank. The oil barrel is stored in the open air, and the rain enters the oil barrel.
